Leaves have been used for ages since the ancient civilizations and are said to be symbolic for life, spring, peace, honor, strength, nobility, prosperity, good fortune and fertility.  The leaf design is loosely based historically from a famous ancient Greek coin bearing the portrait of lovely goddess, Athena dating from 450 B.C. and depicts her wearing olive leaves on her crested helmet and twin olive leaves with a sage owl on the back. Later the Roman coinage depicting Julius Caesar wearing a Laurel wreath on his head continued the long dynamic presentation of leaves from nature.
